David A Jones (BA PMR) - Director and Head Composer

David Jones

David is a classically trained pianist, having started lessons at the age of 8. With immense support and guidance from his highly musical parents he excelled in composition from an early age. He started experimenting with audio recording and composition at home using everything from simple tape recorders to home computers. By the time he had reached college his work was featured on BBC TV and in national press.

A graduate of the world renowned studio engineer's degree course at Salford University with a BA PMR (Popular Music with Recording), David specialised in music for TV and film. David has written and recorded work for the London College of Music, Casio, Jaguar, Barclay's Bank, MBNA Bank, Unilever, Kenwood and several international animation houses, in addition to having performed live extensively, both solo and as part of national touring bands. He prides himself on flexibility to create authentic scores in almost any genre. His passion is for cinematic power and beauty - orchestral fused with contemporary electronica - but his first musical love will always be Rock!

David worked for over 12 years with Panasonic's education division - Technics Music Academy - and was promoted to become a Fellow of the TMA due to his pioneering work on music and keyboard lessons for children aged 4-6. He went on to train TMA teachers on a UK-wide basis on behalf of Panasonic. His work with his business partner and life-long amigo David Morris was recognised by Casio who commissioned the pair, in conjunction with the London College of Music, to create a revolutionary piano / keyboard course for use in music classrooms around the world. This course was to become the Presto E Piano and Keyboard course which is the only course of it's kind in the world to be recognised by the London College of Music (LCM). David's piano works are also featured extensively in the LCM's E Piano / keyboard syllabus to Grade 8.

David is also co-founder and co-Director of Presto Music School, the UK's largest independent music school. The school uses the Presto courseware and the team's own proprietary teaching system. The exam board have gone on record that their exam success is "an outstanding level of achievement". David spent 10 years designing and fronting the Presto Music School roadshow which presents to nearly 40,000 primary school children per year. This interactive concert for Primary School children teaches them the fundamentals of music theory so they can accurately join in with the band's performance in an exuberant, energy filled finale.

Michael Emmerson - Presto Music Production - Assistant Lead Composer

Michael Emmerson

Michael Emmerson is an award-winning UK based composer and producer. Originally a Piano, Theory and Composition student of David Jones at Presto Music School, Michael went on to study at the University of Liverpool, where he specialised in composition and production. Upon graduating he then won the highly prestigious young composer accolade, sponsored by Yamaha and awarded by Coldplay's Chris Martin. He's since devoted his career to music for picture and the world of motion picture advertising, after breaking into the industry writing bespoke cues for London trailer houses. Michael is an exceptional multi-instrumentalist playing piano, guitar, drums and is an accomplished vocalist.

Some of his recent credits include Hollywood trailers for ‘Breathe’ Directed by Andy Serkis' (Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Jungle Book, Avengers: Age of Ultron), the stunning soundtrack to ‘The Magician’ trailer, as well as syncs with Sky Sports 1, ITV, Emirates and more.

He's also completed highly regarded remix work including Chris Isaac's 'Wicked Game' and 'The Seeker' by The Who.

In addition to his work with Presto Music Production, Michael is currently writing music for major publishers including Audiomachine and BMG, as well as Evolving Sound and Twisted Jukebox.

His distinctive, emotional sound fuses powerful orchestral themes with organic elements, cutting edge sound-design and signature synth programming.

Michael is also a highly experienced and accomplished educator. He regularly lectures at Presto Music School's head studios to students of all ages. His extensive musical work with children gives him a clear insight into both much-loved historic and current musical genres, but most importantly; emerging trends.

Michael's composition and production style is always inventive, bright and bold. We are very proud to have him as part of our in-house Team and his contribution to all our projects is always spell-binding, loved by clients, and loved by audiences young and old.
